Deneke, Marvin L.

Marvin L. Deneke, 83, of Cape Girardeau passed away Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born Jan. 6, 1924, in Gordonville, son of William A. and Pauline A. Nothdurft Deneke. He and Mary L. Kyger were married Sept. 3, 1983, in Gordonville. She passed away April 15, 2006.

Marvin served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He was a lifelong member of Zion United Methodist Church in Gordonville, the Men's Quartet, church board, Adult Sunday School Class, and United Methodist Men.

Marvin worked 30 years for General Sign Co. in Cape Girardeau designing and constructing signs, during which time he continued farming southwest of Gordonville.

Loving survivors include a sister, Luella (Harvey) Brase of Cape Girardeau; a brother-in-law, O.D. Niswonger Jr. of Cape Girardeau; seven nephews; and three nieces.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Nelson, Roy, and Orville Deneke; and a sister, Marie Niswonger.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, and after 9 a.m. Thursday at Zion United Methodist Church.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Ann Mowery officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Zion United Methodist Church or Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery.
