Denton, Ioma E. (nee Horn)

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Ioma E. Denton, 82, of Marble Hill, Mo., died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born May 15, 1930, in Harvel, Mo., to Chester and Elsie I. (Stout) Horn. She and Wilson L. Denton were married Nov. 23, 1946. He preceded her in death July 13, 2005.

Mrs. Denton worked as a homemaker, at Sterlings and Dollar General Store and as a secretary at Denton Plumbing & Heating, all in Perryville, Mo. She was a member of Sedgewickville Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and watching western movies.

Survivors include sons: Gerald Lee (Margaret) Denton of Marble Hill, William M. (Sharon) Denton of Troy, Mont., Randy J. (Betty) Denton of Perryville; daughter Bonita J. (Alan) Bryson of Libby, Mont.; daughter-in-law Ellen Denton of Bowling Green, Ky.; brother Willis Horn of Cape Girardeau; sisters Pearl Horn of Herman, Mo., and Ruth (John) Melton of Perryville; 15 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Ronald Denton; and three sisters, Opal Diamond, Ruby Clayton and Virginia Statler.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Young and Sons Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sedgewickville Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mike Dugan and the Rev. Les Bequette co-officiating. Burial will be in Sedgewickville Baptist Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.

A funeral will be held Wednesday, October 24, 2012 for 82-year-old Ioma E. Denton of Marble Hill who died October 21, 2012 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born on May 15, 1930 in Harviell, the daughter of Chester and Elsie I. (Stout) Horn who both preceded her in death.

She married Wilson L. Denton on November 23, 1946. He preceded her in death on July 13, 2005.

She is survived by three sons and one daughter: Gerald Lee (Margaret) Denton of Marble Hill, William M. (Sharon) Denton of Troy, Montana, Bonita J. (Alan) Bryson of Libby, Montana and Randy J. (Betty) Denton of Perryville; a daughter in law: Ellen Denton of Bowling Green, Kentucky; a brother and two sisters: Willis Horn of Cape Girardeau, Pearl Horn of Herman and Ruth (John) Melton of Perryville; 15 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a son: Ronald Denton and three sisters: Opal Diamond, Ruby Clayton and Virginia Statler.

She was a home maker and had worked at Sterling’s and Dollar General Store. She was also a secretary at Denton Plumbing & Heating all in Perryville.

She was a member of Sedgewickville Baptist Church.

She enjoyed crocheting, reading and watching western movies.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, October 23 and 6:30-8:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 24 at the Young & Sons Funeral Home in Perryville.
