Dippold, Richard Fredrick, Sr.

Richard Fredrick Dippold Sr., 91, of Cape Girardeau left this earth Thursday, July 5, 2012, to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He died at Southeast Hospital.

He was born Oct. 10, 1920, at Longtown, Mo., to the Rev. L.F. and Irma Griebel Dippold. He grew up in New Wells and graduated from Jackson High School in 1939. He and Marilyn Grebing were married April 15, 1951, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. They were charter members of St. Andrew Lutheran Church, where he sang in the choir more than 50 years.

Richard served in the Navy during World War II.

He was a past member of Exchange Club and Promenaires Square Dance Club. He owned and operated Ideal Millwork and co-owned R.D. Mini Storage. He was an avid nature lover and loved to fish with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Richard (Carol) Dippold of Thebes, Ill., and their children, Deanna, Kristen and Melanie; Timothy Dippold of Albuquerque, N.M., and fiancee Sherry May, and children Timothy Jr. and Erin Nguyen; two daughters, Nancy (Donald) Robertson of Gordonville and their children Matthew and Mikayla; and Susan (Kevin) Brannock of O'Fallon, Mo., and their children Dale, Ross and Lance; a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Nguyen; a sister, Irma Willson; two brothers, Hugo and Edgar Dippold.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Evelyn Mueller; and a brother, Walter Dippold.

Friends may visit from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Paul Short officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park, with military rites to be conducted by Missouri Honor Guard.
