Dohogne, Urban L.

Urban L. Dohogne, 88, of Paragould, Ark., died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro, Ark.

He was a purchasing agent with Wonder State Manufacturing, Lear Seigler and Peerless Industries. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Urban was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Louise Diebold Dohogne; brothers and sisters, Viola, Cletus, Linus, Emmett, Tiber and Silas Dohogne, Ada Roussell and Eva Geary.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Jeanne Dohogne of the home; daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy and Bob Hessler and Elizabeth and Al Sweet of St. Louis; grandchildren, Jenny (Kevin) Auerr, Allan Hessler, Lauren and Kelly Sweet; great-grandchildren, Abby and Hannah Auerr; a brother, Tony Dohogne of Cape Girardeau; sisters-in-law, Ida, Ginny and Mary Belle Dohogne; and the Ricardo Puello family.

Urban was a World War II veteran, having served in the Army Air Corps as a B-24 pilot. After completing pilot training he was assigned to the 13th Air Force in the South Pacific, where he flew 35 missions. On his 28th mission, Urban was shot down by Japanese flak and after 50 years was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries he received.

The rosary will be at 6 p.m. today at Heath Funeral Home in Paragould. Visitation will follow from 6:30 to 8.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Mike Sinkler and Deacon Rex Bouldin officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association, American Kidney Foundation, US Renal in Paragould or St. Mary's Catholic School.
