Downen, Esther Jean (nee Powell)
BENTON, Mo. -- Esther Jean Downen, 88, of Ridgway, Ill., formerly of Benton, died Monday, Jan. 16, 2006, at her home.
She was born March 29, 1917, daughter of James Murray and Kate Limbaugh Powell. She married Max R. Downen.
Downen was an elementary and high school teacher, retiring in 1988.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Niles Downen of Aurora, Colo.; a daughter, Susan Adams of Cave Creek, Ariz.; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son and a grandson.
Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Benton from 10 a.m. to service time Friday.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Rev. Paul Widicus officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens at Morley, Mo.
