Ehrhart, Ronald, O.


GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Ronald O. "Cris" Ehrhart, 81, of 36 S. Allison St., died Saturday, Dec. 7, 1996, at Waynesboro Hospital, Waynesboro, Pa.

Born Sept. 30, 1915, in St. Thomas, Pa., he was the son of the late Crissey O. and Mary Ester Shatzer Ehrhart.

He was a 1934 graduate of St. Thomas High School. He then graduated from Naval Air Technical Training School in Norman, Okla., in 1944.

He was employed as a supervisor at Fairchild Aircraft Manufacturing in Hagerstown from 1942 until retiring in 1978.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Navy.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Greencastle.

He also was a member of Detrich Brechbill American Legion Post 612 in St. Thomas, Fairchild Retirees Club, and Last Man's Club of Detrich Brechbill American Legion Post 612 in St. Thomas.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Katherine "Kay" Morter Ehrhart, whom he married June 30, 1939; one daughter, Sandra McCulloh of Greencastle; one son, Cris Ronald Ehrhart of Greencastle; two sisters, Mary Ester Witmer of Greencastle, and Mildred Statler, a resident of Shook Home in Chambersburg; two brothers, Orrin Ehrhart of St. Thomas, Oscar Ehrhart of Edenville, Pa.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Ortha Brant; and four brothers, Crissey O. Ehrhart, Forest Ehrhart, Winfield Ehrhart and Clayton Merie Ehrhart.

Services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Minnich-Miller-May Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle. The Rev. David J. Armstrong will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Mercersburg, Pa., with military graveside services conducted by the Honor Guard of Charles M. Nitterhouse V.F.W. Post 1599 in Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
