Elfrink, Martha Elizabeth (nee Jansen)

Martha Elizabeth Elfrink, 89, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born May 3, 1924, in Glennon, Mo., to Joseph L. and Mary Lenderink Jansen. She and Virgil Henry Elfrink were married Oct. 1, 1949, at Glennon. He preceded her in death Jan. 22, 2009.

Martha was a member of St. Mary Cathedral, St. Ann's Sodality, Cursillo and Breakfast Exchangettes and volunteered at Saint Francis Medical Center.

Survivors include a son, Owen (Sandy) Elfrink of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Anita (Brian) Pfautsch of Cape Girardeau, Karen (Charles) Nenninger of Marshall, Texas, and Carla Beussink of Jackson; two brothers, Martin Jansen of St. Louis and Joseph (Anita) Jansen of Cottleville, Mo.; a sister, Theresa (Jerry) Bax of St. Charles, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Marlene Jansen of Chesterfield, Mo.; and a brother-in-law, Henry Sullivan of Florida.

Also 10 grandchildren, Rhonda Abernathy, Josh Elfrink, Jason Ayers, Amber Hall, Gretchen Pfautsch, Jackie Harman, Jared Nenninger, Emily Still, Rachael Phelps and Katie Brockmire; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two infant daughters, Gertrude and Alice; two brothers, Henry and Ted Jansen; and three sisters, Johannah Elfrink, Sister Genevieve Jansen and Marcella Sullivan.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be at 7.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Old St. Vincent Catholic Church, with the Rev. Tom Kiefer officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Mary Cathedral or Notre Dame Regional High School.
