Esicar, Georgia L. (nee Schatte)

Georgia L. Esicar, 85, of Cape Girardeau passed away Thursday, May 22, 2014, at her home, surrounded by family.

She was born Jan. 24, 1929, in Egypt Mills, to Walter Henry Edward and Cecil Nolan Schatte. She and Richard L. Esicar were married June 12, 1948, in Cape Girardeau.

Georgia was a 1946 graduate of Central High School. After high school she was an operator with Bell Telephone Co. Throughout her life she volunteered her time as a Cub Scout den mother and Brownie leader. She was cemetery administrator of McLains Chapel, Iona and Cotner cemeteries. Georgia also assisted with Meals on Wheels, exercised with Senior Citizens and helped with the missions group at church.

She was an avid fan of Southeast Missouri State University men's and women's basketball and the St. Louis Cardinals. She loved to travel and enjoyed playing games and cards with family and friends. She was a lifetime member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son, Blake (Janet) Esicar of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Janice Halter of Cape Girardeau; two grandchildren, Jessica (Jim) Powell of Minneapolis, and Mike (Cindy) Larkin of Ironton, Missouri; two great-grandchildren, Nichole Larkin of Springfield, Missouri, and Hailey Pate of Republic, Missouri; and a great-great-grandchild, Ayden Ward of Republic.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and three sisters.

Friends may call from 11 a.m. until service time Sunday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's and Parkinson's associations.
