PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Ida L. Esselman, 98, of Perryville died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, at her home.

She was born May 9, 1906, in Perry County, daughter of August and Caroline Hoog Martens. She and Aloysius N. Esselman were married Jan. 22, 1924, in Perry County. He died Oct. 23, 1993.

Esselman was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and the Ladies of Charity.

Survivors include four daughters, Loretta Klump of Bella Vista, Ark., Lenita Renner, Jeanette Sutterer and Irma Esselman, all of Perryville; a brother, Joseph Martens of Perryville; 10 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and a great-great-stepgrandchild.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.

Friends may call at Miller Family Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today, and Friday from 6:30 to 9:50 a.m. Parish prayers will be at 7 tonight, and the rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Friday.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with the Rev. Kevin Fausz officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

A funeral will be held Friday, December 31st, 2004 for 98-year-old Ida L. Esselman of Perryville, who died today (Wednesday, December 29th) at her residence.

She was born May 9th, 1906 in Perry County, the daughter of August and Caroline (Hoog) Martens, who both preceded her in death.

She married Aloysius N. Esselman January 22nd, 1924 in Perry County. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include: four daughters and their spouses, Loretta and Amos Klump of Bella Vista, AR., Lenita and Frank Renner, Jeanette and Jim Sutterer, and Irma Esselman, all of Perryville; a brother, Joseph Martens of Perryville; 10 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, three step grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and one step great-great grandchild.

Two sisters, Sophie Esselman and Augusta Martens, and a brother, Leo martens, preceded her in death.

She was a homemaker who loved to make quilts. She was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul parish, and a member of the Ladies of Charity.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, December 30th at the Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville, with parish prayers at 7 p.m. Visitation continues Friday, December 31st from 6:30 to 9:50 a.m., with rosary recital scheduled for 9 a.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral mass for 98-year-old Ida L. Esselman of Perryville will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, December 31st at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville, with burial in the Mount Hope Cemetery. The Rev. Kevin Fausz will officiate.

Memorials may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Endowment Fund or Southeast Hospice.
