Estes, Shirley Rue Yamnitz (nee Discus)

A funeral will be held Friday, March 7, 2014 for 79-year-old Shirley R. (Yamnitz) Estes of Perryville who died March 4, 2014 at her residence in Perryville.

She was born September 2, 1934 in Poplar Bluff, the daughter of William E. Dicus, who survives, and Lois R. (Burton) Dicus, who preceded her in death.

She married Eldon Yamnitz December 15, 1952. He preceded her in death.

She married Jackie Estes January 2, 1987. He survives in Perryville.

She is also survived by three children: Mike (Beth) Yamnitz, David Yamnitz and Jennifer Yamnitz, all of Perryville; a sister: Joan Wulfert of Perryville; a stepbrother: Harry "Sonny" (Alma) Jennings of Farmington; a stepsister: Alice (Keith) Settle of Indianapolis, Indiana; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her stepmother: Clarabelle (Laws) Dicus and a daughter-in-law: Karen Yamnitz.

Shirley taught school at Perry County School District 32 for 31 years.

She was a member of MSTA and Alpha Delta Kappa.

She attended Faith Presbyterian Church.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday, March 6, 2014 and 6:30-10 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2014 at Young & Sons Funeral Home in Perryville.

A funeral for 79-year-old Shirley R. (Yamnitz) Estes of Perryville will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2014 at the Young & Sons Funeral Home in Perryville. The Rev. Bruce Owens will officiate. Burial will be in the Yount Community Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to American Cancer Society or Relay for Life.

Shirley R. (Yamnitz) Estes, 79, of Perryville died March 4, 2014 at her residence in Perryville, MO.

She was born September 2, 1934 in Poplar Bluff, MO, daughter of William E. and Lois R. (Burton) Dicus. She and Eldon Yamnitz were married December 15, 1952. She later married Jackie Estes on January 2, 1987. He survives in Perryville, MO.

Shirley taught school at Perry County School District 32 for 31years. She attended Faith Presbyterian Church. She was a member of MSTA and ALPHA DELTA KAPPA.

Other survivors include three children, Mike (Beth) Yamnitz, David Yamnitz, Jennifer Yamnitz , all of Perryville; one sister, Joan Wulfert of Perryville; one step-brother, Harry “Sonny” (Alma) Jennings of Farmington, MO; one step-sister Alice (Keith) Settle of Indianapolis, IN; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother; father; step-mother, Clarabelle (Laws) Dicus; and daughter-in-law, Karen Yamnitz.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 6 at Young & Sons Funeral Home from 4:00 to 8:00 pm and on Friday, March 7 from 6:30 am until time of service at 10:00 am with Rev. Bruce Owens officiating. Burial will be in Yount Community cemetery.

Memorials are preferred to American Cancer Society or Relay for Life.
