Fluegge, Marvin A.
Marvin A. Fluegge, 80, of Jackson passed away Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born July 30, 1924, in Gordonville, son of Alvin H. and Edna Bodenstein Fluegge. He and Maxine L. Hamilton were married June 15, 1947, in Gordonville, Mo. She survives.
Mr. Fluegge was a graduate of Jackson High School in 1943. On Feb. 19, 1945, he was inducted into the U.S. Army, where he served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during World War II. He was honorably discharged from service on Aug. 8, 1946. After the service, Mr. Fluegge farmed near the Gordonville community for several years and in 1953 moved to Jackson. He had worked for Straightway Farm Service in Jackson, the former Eggimann Feed & Seed in Cape Girardeau, owned and operated a milk route, receiving milk from area farmers, and later worked at Ceramo Co. in Jackson as a plant employee and truck driver until his retirement in 1989.
Mr. Fluegge was confirmed and baptized at Christ Lutheran Church in Gordonville. He joined St. Paul Lutheran Church in 1953, where he was a former choir member and budget collector. He was a lifetime member of the Altenthal Joerns American Legion Post 158 and the Jackson VFW.
Loving survivors include his wife; three sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Vicki Fluegge of The Colony, Texas, Leslie and Barbara Fluegge of Ocala, Fla., and Randy and Terri Fluegge of Wildwood, Mo.; a daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Ralph Callier of Manchester, Mo.; a brother and sister-in-law, the Rev. Wilton and Vicky Fluegge of Macomb, Mich.; a sister and brother-in-law, Gladys and Marvin Aufdenberg of Burfordville; eight grandchildren, Traci, Jennifer, Michelle, Chris, Spencer, Amy, Jessie and Elizabeth.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson and after 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson. An American Legion service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Robert Henrichs officiating. Burial will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery with graveside military honors.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Saxony Lutheran High School.
