Friese, Oda Albert

Oda Albert Friese, 84, of Oak Ridge died Sunday, July 11, 2010, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Sept. 10, 1925, in Sedgewickville, Mo., son of Albert and Dona Hobeck Friese. He and Bernice Hellman were married March 20, 1948, at Sedgewickville Lutheran Church.

Oda was a self-employed carpenter and owned and operated a construction business. He built many homes in Jackson and the surrounding communities.

After retiring and turning the business over to his sons, Oda continued building kitchen cabinets and many woodworking projects in his workshop at home.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bernice of Oak Ridge; four sons, Allan and Dale Friese of Oak Ridge, Glenn (Margaret) Friese of Daisy, Claude (Martha) Friese of Jackson; two daughters, Darlene Friese of Oak Ridge, Beverly (Jeff) Johnston of Pocahontas; eight grandchildren, Craig (Rachael) Friese of Old Appleton, Brian (Shyenne) Friese of Oak Ridge, Travis, Austin and Kaylan Friese, all of Jackson, Chris (Veronica) Johnston of Fredericktown, Mo., Lauren (Ray) LaBelle of Jackson, Sara (Cody) Davidson of Pocahontas; a great-grandson, Tatem Johnston of Fredericktown; a sister, Ella Yeager of Oak Ridge; a brother, Ora Friese of Oak Ridge.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Harriet Friese; three sisters, Minnie Tuschhoff, Mae Zimmerman, Lottie Jane Willie; three brothers, John Henry, Luther and Loy Friese.

Oda will be missed by family and the many friends who knew him.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sargents Chapel Lutheran Cemetery near Sedgewickville, with the Rev. Bob Eisenhauer officiating.
