Fuhrmann, Earl Fred Albert, Dr.

Dr. Earl Fuhrmann, 91, a longtime resident of Concordia, Mo., passed away on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, in Martinsville, Ind., where he resided with his daughter.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Concordia, with the Rev. R. Lee Hagan officiating. Visitation will be held Friday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Concordia. Burial with military rites will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in Concordia. Memorials may be made to St. Paul High School or St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Earl Fred Albert Fuhrmann was born on Feb. 4. 1920, in Cape Girardeau to the late Arthur Fuhrmann and Bertha Vasteling Fuhrmann. On Aug. 10, 1941, he married Dorothy Ellen Davis, who preceded him in death Oct. 15, 2004. In 1952 he joined the staff of St. Paul's College and High School in Concordia, where he taught science until his retirement in 1988. While at St. Paul's he served as professor of science, chairman of the Science and Math Division, academic dean from 1965 to 1975, and as acting president in 1986. He was also a member of St. Paul's Associates. Dr. Fuhrmann served his country during World War II as a captain in the U.S. Army Air Corps.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Cathie Fuhrmann of Yorktown Heights, N.Y.; a daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Dan Pennington of Martinsville; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ella Mae Hoeller of Cape Girardeau.
