George, Harry Kenneth

Harry Kenneth George, 76, of Jackson passed away Monday, Aug. 11, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born March 12, 1938, in Cape Girardeau, to the late Homer A. and Ruth E. Ingram George. He was the youngest of three children.

Harry graduated from Central High School in Cape Girardeau and St. Louis College of Pharmacy. He began his pharmacy career in the family business, Broadway Prescription Shop. He owned and worked at multiple pharmacies in the area including East Prairie, Missouri, and Charleston, Missouri, and relief pharmacy at Optioncare. He was a licensed pharmacist in Arizona, Texas and Missouri. He completed his pharmacy career where he began it, at Broadway Prescription Shop.

He served in the Army Air National Guard Reserves. He was a member of the Cape Girardeau Jaycees, Southeast Missouri Pharmacy Association and Cape County Cowboy Church. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He and Shelia Price were married Feb. 14, 2006.

Loving survivors include his wife, Shelia; children, Cheri (Jose) Prochmann, Sandi (Curt) Hensley, Jeff (Davina) George, Paul (Christy) George and Mark George; stepchildren, Tex Tittle, Kelly Tittle, Tracy Tittle, J.O. Tittle and Brad Tittle; and 13 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Milton and Patricia; and a son, Bradley Kenneth.

In accordance with his wishes, his body has been donated to Washington University for medical research.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Cape County Cowboy Church.

A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m., with the pastor, Jim Matthews, officiating.

Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association and Cape County Cowboy Church.
