Gibbar, Percy J., Sr.

A funeral will be held Tuesday, May 1st, 2001 for 84-year-old Percy J. Gibbar of Perryville, who died Friday, April 27th at his home.

He was born January 26th, 1917 in Perry County, the son of Clell Gibbar and Emma Kline Gibbar.

He married Cecilia M. Maddock in 1941. She survives in Perryville.

He is also survived by three sons, Ronald of Alberta, Canada; Percy, Junior of Joshua Tree, CA; and David of St. Louis. One daughter also survives, Sharon Dismang of Perryville.

He is also survived by a brother, Lester Gibbar of St. Peters and two sisters, Elba Welker and Velma Lee Huber, both of Perryville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother.

He was a carpenter and a mechanic in the construction industry. He was a World War II Navy Veteran.

He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Holy Name Society, Western Catholic Union, American Legion Post 133, VFW Post 4282 and the Perryville Senior Citizens Club.

Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Monday, April 30th and from 6:30 - 9:50 a.m. Tuesday, May 1st at the Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville. There will be a VFW Service at 6:30 p.m. Monday, followed by a Parish Wake at 7 p.m. and an American Legion Service at 7:30 p.m. The Rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

A funeral mass for 84-year-old Percy J. Gibbar will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 1st at the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. The Reverend Kevin P. Fausz, C.M. will officiate.

Burial in the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Perryville.

Memorials may be sent to the Southeast Hospice, American Cancer Society, the Alzheimer's Association or to the St. Vincent de Paul Parish.
