Glueck, Betty L. (nee Mehner)

Betty L. Glueck, 81, passed away peacefully at her home in St. Charles, Mo., on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011.

She was born May 21, 1930, in Perryville, Mo., daughter of Velma Farrar and Lonnie Mehner. She and Herbert Anton Glueck were married Jan. 23, 1948, in Cape Girardeau. He preceded her in death Sept. 23, 1980.

Survivors include two daughters, Debbie (Rick) Suarez of St. Peters, Mo., Monica Brown (Leon Ezell) of Frohna, Mo.; a son, Stephen Glueck (Penny Rees) of Cape Girardeau; seven grandchildren, Michelle (Matt) Bice, Richard Suarez Jr., Nick (Tara) Brown, Renee (DeWayne) Brown, Will (Laura) Brown, Tyler Glueck and Aaron Glueck; 13 great-grandchildren, Logan, Summer, Jacob, Jurnee, Savannah, Kolby, Ben, Brinna, Hailey, Kaden, Landon, Caleb, Kendra and baby Brown due in December; three sisters-in-law, Karla Mehner, Barbara Schaefer and Anna Adams.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Herbert Michael Glueck; two sisters, Nelda Bondurant, Helen Bertrand; and a brother, Raymond Mehner.

Betty was a 1948 graduate of Central High School. She was previously employed by Magna-Tel and Superior Electric in Cape Girardeau. She was a member of Daughters of Isabella Auxiliary 603, charter member and first commander of Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary of Cape Girardeau and past member of St. Mary's Cathedral in Cape Girardeau and Immaculate Conception Church in Jackson.

Mom loved lottery scratch-offs, word finds and anything sweet. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her.

Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. William Hennecke officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
