Glueck, Robert "Beaver"

Robert "Beaver" Glueck, 67, of Blomeyer died Friday, March 9, 2012, at his home.

He was born May 9, 1944, in Cape Girardeau, to Walter and Stella Brucker Glueck. He and Phyllis White were married Nov. 24, 1988.

Glueck was a heavy equipment operator with IUOE Local 513 in Bridgeton, Mo., a self-employed farmer, owned and operated Beaver Construction Co., and was the inventor of the Beaver Lift, a drag-type harrow. He also taught heavy equipment class at Mingo Job Corps.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he served two tours during the Vietnam War. He was the recipient of two Bronze Stars and was with the Construction Battalion.

Glueck attended the General Baptist Church in Chaffee and was a past commander at Chaffee VFW Post 3127.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sherri Glueck of Delta, Shelli (Stephen P.) Hess of Whitewater; a brother, Harold (Margaret) Glueck of Georgetown, Ind.; and two grandsons, David and Andrew Hess of Whitewater.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and an uncle, Edward Glueck.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Sunday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee. A VFW service will be held at 7.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the chapel, with the Rev. Bob Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield, with full military honors.
