Green, Betty Roxie (nee McLemore)

Betty Roxie McLemore Green, 77, of Jackson, formerly of Scott City, died Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

Betty, daughter of John William and Grace Pearl Vaughn McLemore, was born Oct. 27, 1934, in Chaffee, Mo.

She grew up in Chaffee on her family's farm and attended public schools. She married Lloyd Green in Commerce, Mo., and together they had three daughters.

Betty taught Sunday school and was a member of Ladies Aid at Eisleben Lutheran Church in Scott City, where she was a long time member. She worked at Ely Walker and Co. in Scott City and Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She loved flowers and was known for her beautiful rose, peony, hydrangea and iris beds. She was a wonderful cook and loved to sew and do embroidery work. Her passion was reading and she was rarely seen without a book in hand.

Betty will be remembered for her caring and giving nature as well as her faith and her devoted love of family.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Lloyd, in May 2000; parents; and brother and sister-in-law, Charles (Ella Katherine) McLemore.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda (Richard) Wadlington of Cape Girardeau, Brenda (Matthew) Edmonds of Lee's Summit, Mo., Rhonda (Alan) Zacharias of Winfield, Ill.; five grandchildren, Jason Haertling of Fairview Heights, Ill., Meagan Edmonds of Lee's Summit, Katherine (Curtis) Jansen of Hickory, N.C., Holden Zacharias and Lillian Grace Zacharias of Winfield; three great-grandchildren, Chase Haertling, Nicholas Haertling and Madison Jansen; three sisters, Bessie (Everette) Kynion of Marine, Ill., Wanda (Leo) King of Cape Girardeau, Shirley (Bill) Vance of Advance, Mo.; two brothers, Robert (Darlene) McLemore and Donald (Erna) McLemore of Jackson; and many other beloved family members and friends.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City, and from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday at Eisleben Lutheran Church.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. Barry Pfanstiel and Pastoral Vicar Marty Hasz officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
