Haertling, Robert "Bob", Sr.

ALTENBURG, Mo. -- Robert "Bob" Haertling Sr., 80, of Altenburg died Monday, May 26, 2014, at his home.

He was born Aug. 6, 1933, in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, son of Oscar and Myrtle Bodenschatz Haertling.

Robert was retired. He was a member of American Legion Post 133, VFW Post 4282, and had been an avid Cardinals baseball fan since 1946.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Survivors include his loving companion and best friend, Tess Miller; three sons, Robert Jr. and Kurtis (Barb) of Louisiana and Larry (Tanya) of California; a daughter, Lisa of Millersville; a sister, Hazel Krypciak of Illinois; a brother, Wayne Haertling of Texas; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Kenneth and Alan; a sister, Virgie Hacker; and three brothers, Oscar, Glennon and Raymond.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 6:30 to 9:15 a.m. Friday at Young and Sons East Perry Chapel in Altenburg. A VFW wake will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church in Uniontown, with the Rev. Paul Winningham officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military graveside rites provided by American Legion Post 133 and Delta Team.

Memorials are preferred to family.

Burial will be in church cemetery with military graveside provided by American Legion Post 133 and Delta Team.
