Harmon, Mary Polly (nee Statler) Obit Mrs. Polly Harmon Dies at Gordonville; Funeral Thursday

Jackson, July 2 -- Mrs. Polly Harmon, 88 years old, died of a complication of allments and the infirmities of advanced age at the home of a daughter in Gordonville at 6:30 o'clock Tuesday night.

The body was brought to the Wilson-Statler-Seabaugh Funeral Home, where it will remain until the funeral, which will be held at 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the funeral home with burial in the Thompson Cemetery near Liberty School No. 2.

Mrs. Harmon, whose maiden name was Statler, was born near Sedgewickville in Bollinger County, and having grown to womanhood on a farm, was married to Addie [Adam] James in April, 1873.  He died on Dec. 6, 1874, leaving a son, John James, who died April 15, 1940.

Mrs. James then married Louis Daniel Harmon, on Aug. 22, 1882, and the family came to Cape County 47 years ago, Mr. Harmon engaging in farmnig until his death on Dec. 26, 1914.

Since that time Mrs. Harmon made her home with her children, of whom four survive, Mrs. Otto Miller of Gordonville, Mrs. Fred Thompson of Fornfelt, and Mrs. Lyman Hayden and C. I. Harmon of Cape Girardeau.  Surviving also are three brothers, Ely Statler of Dutchtown, Ehpraim Statler of Greenbriar and Henry Statler of Fredericktown, 28 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
