Hartle, Irene G. (nee Hahs)

Friday, January 18, 2002:

JACKSON, Mo. -- Irene G. Hartle, 83, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at her home in Jackson.

Born June 26, 1918, in Oak Ridge, Mo., she was the daughter of David A. and Josephine Godwin Hahs.

On April 25, 1934, in Jackson, she was married to George E. Hartle.

From 1964 to 2000 the Hartles lived in Cape Girardeau. They lived in Jackson for the past two years.

In 1964, Mrs. Hartle became a member of the First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau and served as the staff nursery director there from 1972-1999.

Loving survivors include her husband, George, of Jackson; four sons and three daughters-in-law, John and Beverly Hartle of Richland, N.C., Joe and Margie Hartle of Sebring, Fla., Roy and Selena Hartle of Scott City, Mo., and Wade Hartle of Jackson; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Willie Abernathy of Perryville, Mo., Joy and Bill Friedrich of Jackson; two brothers, Hubert Hahs of House Springs, Mo., and Wilson Hahs of San Bernardino, Calif.

Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, Denita Hartle of Jackson, Robin Reed of Blue Springs, Mo., Sheri Courtney and husband, Bernard, of Jacksonville, N.C., Dean Hartle of Jackson, Dana Taveniere and husband, David, of Sebring, Jeremy Hartle of Sebring, Roy Hartle Jr., and Greg Hartle of Scott City, Connie Starr and husband, Rob, of Incline Village, Nev., Chris and Kristy Friedrich of Jackson, Shea Friedrich of St. Louis; and 15 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, one sister and two grandchildren, Susan Ann Abernathy and John David Hartle, II.

Mrs. Hartle desired to aid medical science by donating her body.

Friends may call from 1-3 p.m., Saturday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, with a memorial service planned for 3 p.m., with the Rev. Rocky Tallent officiating.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Southeast Hospice.

JACKSON, Mo. -- Irene G. Hartle, 83, of Jackson died Wednesday, January 16, 2002, at her home.

She was born June 26, 1918 at Oak Ridge, Mo., daughter of David A. and Josephine Godwin Hahs. She and George E. Hartle were married April 25, 1934, at Jackson.

Hartle lived in Cape Girardeau for many years before moving to Jackson two years ago. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau and was staff nursery director for more than 20 years.

Survivors include her husband; four sons, John Hartle of Richland, N.C., Joe Hartle of Sebring, Fla., Roy Hartle of Scott City, Mo., and Wade Hartle of Jackson; two daughters, Barbara Abernathy of Perryville and Joy Friedrich of Jackson; two brothers, Hubert Hahs of House Springs, Mo., and Wilson Hahs of San Bernardino, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, six brothers and one sister.

Friends may call from 1-3 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Rocky Tallent officiating.

Hartle has asked that her body be donated to medical science.
