Hellwege, Bertha L. (nee Perr)

Bertha L. Hellwege, 80, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, March 4, 2004, at St. Francis Medical Center.

She was born April 12, 1923, at New Wells, Mo., daughter of Martin and Louise Borchelt Perr. She and Reinhold Henry Hellwege were married Nov. 15, 1941, at Altenburg, Mo. He died May 29, 1999.

Mrs. Hellwege was baptized at Immanuel Lu-theran Church in New Wells, and confirmed at the church in March 1937 by the Rev. Dippold. She was a housewife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include a son, Don Hellwege of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Elmer Perr of Cape Girardeau, Hugo Perr of Barnhart, Mo.; four sisters, Meta Seabaugh of Holt Summit, Mo., Anita Poppitz of St. Louis, Erma Petzoldt of Cape Girardeau, and Millie Vaughn of Virginia.

Also surviving is a granddaughter, Connie Brennecke of Little Elm, Texas; two grandsons, Mark Starnes and Greg Hellwege of Cape Girardeau; and three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua and Jesse Brennecke of Little Elm.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Darlene Steffens; three brothers, William, Clarence and Raymond Perr; and a sister, Mabel Hutteger.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Douglas C. Breite officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.

Memorials may be made to Living Hope or Trinity School Building Fund.
