Hester, Douglas
Douglas Hester, 76, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, March 24, 2013, at Woodland Hills Nursing Home in Marble Hill, Mo.
He was born Nov. 13, 1936, in Cape Girardeau to Leon and Lela Lincoln Hester. He and Betty A. Canfield were married June 21, 1957, in Cape Girardeau.
Douglas served his country for two years in the United States Army.
He was a truck driver for 40 years with McDonald Concrete. He was an avid hunter and also loved to fish and camp. He was a member of Church of the Nazarene in Jackson.
Survivors include his wife, Betty A. Hester of Cape Girardeau; four sons, Douglas (Darlene) Hester Jr. of Scott City, David (Shelley) Hester of St. Charles, Mo., Timothy (Debbie) Hester of Columbia, Mo., and Robert (Erica) Hester of Scott City; a daughter, Beverly (Tom) Lorenz of Virginia Beach, Va.; a sister, Winiferd Ferris of the state of California; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ken Harper officiating. Full military rites will be conducted by the Missouri Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Church of the Nazarene in Jackson.
