Hinkebein, Ralph Henry, Sr.

Ralph Henry Hinkebein Sr., 82, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, March 5, 2015, at The Lutheran Home.

He was born Aug. 3, 1932, in Leopold, Missouri, to Theodore and Olivia Glastetter Hinkebein.

He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army. He was honorably discharged March 22, 1954.

He and Jo Ann Schwepker were married May 4, 1957, in Dutchtown. She passed away Aug. 13, 2006.

Ralph had worked for Cape Paint and Glass for six years. He retired in 1992 from Southeast Missouri State University after 26 years.

He was a member of St. Mary Cathedral and the Knights of Columbus Council No. 6405 in Jackson.

Survivors include three daughters, Cindy A. (Paul) Slinkard of Jackson, Becky S. (Rick East) Hinkebein of Cape Girardeau and Beth R. (Scott) Altenthal of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Ralph H. (Debbie) Hinkebein Jr. of Cape Girardeau and Karlios J. (Chris) Hinkebein of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Richard Hinkebein of Kelso, Missouri, and Willard Hinkebein of Scott City; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife and four brothers, Glenn Hinkebein, Vernon Hinkebein, Luke Hinkebein and Ennis Hinkebein Sr.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be at 7:30 p.m., followed by the K.C. rosary by council No. 6405.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Cathedral in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Allan Saunders officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, with full military honors by the Missouri Honors Team.

Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
