Hinton, Eileen Virginia (nee Spain)

Eileen V. Hinton, 95, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at Chateau Girardeau Health Center.

She was born Sunday, July 8, 1917, in Randles to Benjamin Franklin and Fannie Gertrude Slover Spain. She and George "Dewey" Hinton were married Sept. 3, 1936, in Anna, Ill. He preceded her in death May 18, 1985.

Survivors include five sons, Gerald Hinton (Ann), Benny R. Hinton (Nelda), Henry Hinton (Jeannie) of Jackson, Terry Hinton of Cape Girardeau and Mike Hinton (Mary Lou) of Sikeston, Mo.; three daughters, Marsha Hinton of Cape Girardeau, Nancy Irvine of Reno, Nev., and Carolyn Klueppel of Columbia, Mo.; a brother, Arley Spain of Longview, Wash.; four half-sisters, Juanita Holloway of Jackson, Margaret McClanahan of Collinsville, Ill., Pauline Irvine of Cape Girardeau and Jerry Lawrence of Fort Smith, Ark.; 22 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two stepsons; a brother, Delbert Spain; and a half-brother, Gene Crader.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jimmie Corbin officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to charity of choice.
