Hinton, Jackson Stein, Jr.

Jack S. Hinton Jr., 81, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006, at Missouri Veterans Home.

He was born March 14, 1924, in Cape Girardeau, son of Jack S. Hinton Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Hahn. He was raised by his stepfather, Clarence "Tubby" Koch. He and Maxine J. Sullivan were married June 15, 1951, in Cape Girardeau. She died Feb. 9, 1992.

Hinton had worked at Marquette Cement, Day Transfer, was a custodian at Boatmen's Bank, and was a greeter at Orthopaedic Associates. He was a member of Intercontinental Church of God, VFW Post 3838, Eagles Aerie 3775 and Elks Lodge 639.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Rood of Middleburg, Fla., Patsy Austin of Fayetteville, W.Va.; a brother, Don Koch of Mount Vernon, Ill.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Dr. James Ricks officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, with military rites by Missouri Honor Guard.
