Hobeck, Tilda Mae (nee Jenkins)

Tilda Mae Hobeck, 87, of Daisy died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born May 1, 1918, at Burfordville, daughter of Archie and Lizzie Hendricks Jenkins. She and Archie Hobeck were married June 2, 1934, at Bessville, Mo. He died Feb. 2, 1977.

Mrs. Hobeck had been a cook at Stearns Cafe in Jackson and then at Drury Inn in Cape Girardeau. She was a member of New Salem United Methodist Church at Daisy, its United Methodist Women, secretary and teacher of a Sunday school class; former leader of Arnsburg 4-H Club, Daisy Homemakers Club, and member of Cape County Extension Board.

Survivors include six daughters, Wilma (Robert) Lohman of Chester, Ill., Audrey (Roy) Pohlman of Perryville, Mo., Sally Strickland of Cape Girardeau, Janet (L.R.) Brandes of Jackson, Virgie (PeeWee) Moore of Daisy, Nancy (Gene) Norberg of Farmington, Minn.; a sister, Nora Curry of Chula Vista, Calif.; 22 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Harold; a daughter, Judith; two brothers, George and Edward; and a great-granddaughter.

Friends may call at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson from 4 to 8 p.m. today. Visitation will also be from 10 a.m. to service time Friday at New Salem United Methodist Church.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Calvin Brown officiating. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery.
