Holley, William Dickey "Dick"
William "Dick" Holley, 76, formerly of Cape Girardeau, passed away Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at St. Luke's Hospital in St. Louis.
Friends may call Thursday, Feb. 21, after 11 a.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, Mo.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. at the funeral home, followed by interment in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson. The Rev. Grant Gillard will officiate.
Mr. Holley was born April 21, 1925, in Kennett, Mo., son of Nedham and Louise Dickey Holley. He married the former Betty Steck June 26, 1949, and she survives of Chesterfield, Mo.
He began his career in the food industry in 1949, with Armour and Company, working in different divisions. In 1959 he began employment with Wetterau and moved through several divisions of the company in various executive positions.
He was director of marketing of the Mexico, Mo., division; president and general manager of the Scott City, Mexico, and Hazelwood divisions. At the time of his retirement in 1985, he was a first vice president of Wetterau.
Mr. Holley spent his early life in the southeastern part of the state, having graduated from Kennett High School and attending Southeast Missouri State University at Cape Girardeau. His education was interrupted by three years of service in World War II, having spent time in the Southwest Pacific Theater of Operations.
His community activities included service on the Board of Deacons at First Presbyterian Church of Mexico, Mo., and also Cape Girardeau. He was also on the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors in these communities, and on the Board of Directors at First National Bank in Cape Girardeau. In his final years he was a member of Bonhomme Presbyterian Church in Chesterfield. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a Shriner, and a member of the American Management Association and the Rotary Club of Mexico, Mo.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Betty Steck Holley; a daughter, Claire Jane Holley of Chesterfield; and a half brother, Clinton Holley of California.
