Holtzclaw, Charles Albert

McCLURE, Ill. -- Charles Albert Holtzclaw, 72, of McClure died Monday, Sept. 15, 2014, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Nov. 26, 1941, in Maunie, Illinois, to the Rev. Albert and Mary McKenzie Holtzclaw. He and Mary Joyce Niswonger were married Dec. 21, 1962, in Jackson.

Charles retired from Southern Electric Co-op in Dongola, Illinois. Charles attended First Pentecostal Church in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include a daughter, Sharon (Randy) Smith of East Cape Girardeau, Illinois; a son, Michael (Karen) Holtzclaw of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Betty Shepard of Bushnell, Florida, and Rebecca Holtzclaw of Nashville, Tennessee; two grandsons, Chad (Beth) Holtzclaw and Tyler Holtzclaw; three granddaughters, Lauren Cladis, Whitnie Smith and Macie Smith; and two great-grandchildren, Drake and Tatum Holtzclaw.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Carol Holtzclaw; a sister, Marilyn Holtzclaw; and a granddaughter, Malorie Smith.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Darrell Faire officiating.

Visitation also will be from 11 a.m. to service time at 1 p.m. Friday at Kittinger-Fair Funeral Home in Carmi, Illinois. Burial will be in White County Memorial Gardens in Carmi.

Memorial contributions may be given to First Pentecostal Church of Cape Girardeau.
