Hooper, Dominic Michael

Dominic Michael Hooper, 17, of Scott City passed away due to injuries sustained in an ATV accident Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, surrounded by family and friends.

He was born June 28, 1996, in Cape Girardeau, son of Sara Hooper and Lee Eads.

Dominic was a senior at Scott City High School. He attended grade school at St. Augustine School in Kelso, Mo.; East Side Elementary School in Elizabethton, Tenn.; and St. Joseph School in Scott City.

He was a member of St. Augustine Church in Kelso, National Honor Society, Pep Club, Theater Club, GAS Club, A+ program and was a four-year honor roll student.

Dominic was very active in sports and enjoyed playing football, basketball, baseball and weightlifting.

Survivors include his parents, Chris and Sara Hooper Snider of Scott City; a sister, Amanda; and a brother, Drake Snider of Taylorsville, Ky.; grandmothers, Charlotte "Ga-Ga" Schlosser Hooper and Joan "Nae-Nae" Drury of Scott City, and Barbara "Nanny" Brownfield of Louisville, Ky.

Also aunts and uncles, Christine and Clint Estes, Cheryl Tucker, Becky and also godfather Allen Collier, all of Scott City; cousins Caleb, Zachary, Abagail and Sammy Estes, Catrina Stone, Ryan Brock, Alivia, Ty, Bennett and Charlotte Collier; girlfriend, Amanda Gassel of Fruitland; his father, Lee Eads; and brothers, Michael and Cooper Eads of Poplar Bluff, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Robert Hooper and John Brownfield.

Dominic loved life and lived each day to the fullest. He never met a stranger and always went out of his way to make sure everyone he saw was happy and smiling. He had such an infectious personality and had a very special ability to make friends with everyone he met.

He loved spending time with his friends, whether it was playing on one of many different team sports, dunk ball, Frisbee golf, video games, listening to music, dancing or just hanging out. He was the life of the party and liked to be the center of attention.

Dominic was a wonderful, caring young man, a very driven person with a great sense of humor. His compassion for others and trust and faith in God was astonishing. His kind and generous heart was unending. He loved spending time with his family and playing with his cousins. He has touched the lives of so many people from many different places and has continued to do so even after his death.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the gymnasium of Scott City High School.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Augustine Church, by the Rev. Oliver Clavin. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
