Hotop, Walter Joseph
Walter J. Hotop, 92, of Biehle, Mo., died Saturday, March 31, 2007, at Perry Oaks Nursing Home in Perryville, Mo.
He was born March 19, 1915, in Biehle, son of Joseph and Julia Schemel Hotop. He and Leola T. Sauer were married Aug. 9, 1940.
Hotop was a self-employed carpenter and a member of the St. Maurus Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gerald Hotop and Sylvester Hotop of Perryville; a daughter, Norma Jean Main of Foley, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, two sisters, a stepbrother and a stepsister.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 6:30 to 9:15 Wednesday at Young and Sons Funeral Chapel in Perryville. Parish wake will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Maurus Catholic Church in Biehle, with the Rev. Tony Datillo officiating. Burial will be at the church's cemetery.

A funeral will be held Wednesday, April 4th, 2007 for 92-year-old Walter J. Hotop of Biehle who died Saturday, March 31st at Perry Oaks Manor in Perryville.
He was born March 19th, 1915 in Biehle, the son of Joseph and Julia Schemel Hotop, who both preceded him in death.
He married Leola T. Sauer on August 9th, 1940. She survives in Perryville.
He is also survived by two sons and daughters in law, Gerald and Judy Hotop and Sylvester and Joyce Hotop, all of Perryville; one daughter and son in law, Norma Jean and Walter Main of Foley; 11 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by seven brothers: Bernard, Alphonse, Julius, Ervine, Edgar, Edwin and Wilbert; two sisters, Leneta Buchheit and Leona McCarthy; a stepbrother, Anton Hotop and a stepsister, Josephine Pingel.
He was a self-employed carpenter and member of the St. Maurus Catholic Church in Biehle.
Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Tuesday, April 3rd and 6:30-9:15 a.m. Wednesday, April 4th at the Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville. Parish wake at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
A funeral mass for 92-year-old Walter J. Hotop of Biehle will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 4th at the St. Maurus Catholic Church in Biehle. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The Rev. Tony Dattilo will officiate.
Memorials may be made to the Heart Fund or Cancer Society.
