Kevin J. Jansen, 58, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, March 1, 2014, at his home. He was born March 1, 1956, in Cape Girardeau, to Bonnie L. and Cletus L. Jansen. Kevin worked for Kelly Transportation Co. for many years in various capacities. He enjoyed Cardinals baseball, fishing, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends...

Kevin J. Jansen, age 58, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, March 1, 2014, at his home. He was born on March 1, 1956, in Cape Girardeau to Bonnie L. and Cletus L. Jansen. Kevin worked for the Kelly Transportation Company for many years in various capacities. He enjoyed Cardinal baseball, fishing, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends. He has been a member of St. Mary Cathedral Parish for many years as well as the Knights of Columbus St. Vincent’s Council 1111. Survivors include five sisters; Linda Piatt (Dale), LaDonna Scheffer (Charles), Bonita VanGennip (Fred), Barbara Hammers (Howard), all of Cape Girardeau County, and Rhonda Davis (Matthew) of Collierville, TN. He is also survived by several aunts and uncles and many nieces, nephews, friends and his special dog, Daffy. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his stepmother, Edna Niemier Jansen. Family and friends may visit from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Crain Funeral Home, Cape Girardeau. Parish prayers will be said at 7:00 p.m. and the Knights of Columbus rosary will follow. Funeral mass for Kevin Jansen will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday at Old St. Vincent’s Cathedral in Cape Girardeau with Father Tom Kiefer as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Cape Girardeau. In lieu of flowers/plants, the family requests that memorials be made in Kevin’s honor to St. Mary’s Cathedral, Birthright or the Wounded Warrior Project.
