Jansen, Mary Angela (nee Holzum)

LEOPOLD, Mo. -- Mary Angela Jansen, 69, of Leopold crossed over to a new life Saturday, April 27, 2013.

Born May 14, 1943, at Laflin, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Leo Herman and Minnie Johanna Nenninger Holzum Sr.

On June 2, 1962, she married Ronald George Jansen at St. John's Catholic Church in Leopold. He preceded her in death Aug. 9, 2008.

As a member, Mary was active in St. John's Catholic Church Ladies Sodality. She was a Rotary Club leader and a past PSR teacher.

In Illinois, she was active in the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. She was an avid fan of country music, loved to play bingo and was a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.

She worked for Thorngates Ltd., Columbia Sportswear and Chaffee High School.

She loved living in Leopold, attending church and loving her grandkids, the many children who considered her a second mother and friends who came into her life.

She is survived by her three sons, Ron (Cheryl) Jansen of Red Lion, Pa., Mark Jansen of Columbia, Mo., and Randal (Christianne) Jansen of Brandon, Miss.; three daughters, Maureen (Jeff) Martin of Leopold, Rene (Brad) Landewee of Leopold and Melinda (Chris) Bostic of St. Peters, Mo.; 12 grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Cassie, Jeannette and Mary Jansen, Rhiannon and Hannah Martin, Abby and Evan Landewee, and Jonathan, Helena and Julia Bostic; two sisters, Wilma Abernathy of Freeburg, Ill., and Sr. Leah Marie (Violet) Holzum of St. Louis; three brothers-in-law, Harold Brumleve of Cobden, Ill., Tom Jansen of Marble Hill and David (Glenda) Jansen of Scopus, Mo.; and seven sisters-in-law, Martha Holzum of Columbia, Ill., Pauline Kinder of O'Fallon, Mo., Theresa Jansen of Powder Springs, Ga., Paulette (Rich) Stuckmeyer of Patton, Mo., Judy Looney of Cape Girardeau, Geralyn (Richard) Eftink of Leopold and Ruth (Lynn) VanGennip of Glennon, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law and mother-in-law; two brothers, John Holzum and Leo Holzum; three sisters, Dorothy Arnzen, Leona Brumleve and Helen Holzum Whealen; and one brother-in-law, Alvin Jansen.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at St. John's Catholic Church in Leopold. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday with the Rotary Club leading the rosary.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. William Hennecke officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Catholic Church Cemetery.

Hutchings Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
