Jansen, Ronald George

Ronald George Jansen, 66, crossed over to a new life Aug. 9, 2008. He was born May 16, 1942, near Leopold, Mo., son of Louis John and Gertrude Marie Vandeven Jansen. On June 2, 1962, he married Mary Angela Holzum at St. John Catholic Church in Leopold.

Ronald was active in the Boy Scouts of America Abraham Lincoln Council in Illinois. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, was a member of the National Rifle Association and a lifetime fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He belonged to the Mascoutan Bay Muzzleloaders of Beardstown, Ill.

He worked for the P.N. Hirsch Co., and for many years as a store and district manager at the Dollar General Corp.

He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Leopold and a lifetime member of Knights of Columbus Council 5898.

He is survived by three sons, Ronald (Cheryl) Jansen of Red Lion, Pa., Mark (Kathy) Jansen of Longmont, Co. and Randal (Christianne) Jansen of Brandon, Miss; three daughters, Maureen (Jeff) Martin and Rene (Brad) Landewee, both of Leopold, and Melinda (Chris) Bostic of O'Fallon, Mo.; 11 grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Cassie, Jeannette, Mary Jansen, Rhiannon and Hannah Martin, Abby and Evan Landewee, Jonathan and Helena Bostic; two brothers, David (Glenda) Jansen of Scopus, Mo., Tom (Monica) Jansen of Marble Hill, Mo.; four sisters, Paulette (Rich) Stuckmeyer of Patton, Mo., Judy Looney of St. Robert, Mo., Geralyn (Richard) Eeftink of Leopold, Ruth (Lynn) VanGennip of Marble Hill, Mo.; four sisters-in-law, Theresa (Alvin) Jansen of Powder Springs, Ga., Dorothy Holzum Arnzen of Leopold, Wilma Abernathy of Freeburg, Ill., and Sr. Leah Marie (Violet) Holzum of St. Louis.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Alvin Jansen; a sister, Mary Catherine; a mother-in-law, Minnie Nenninger Holzum; two brothers-in-law, John Holzum and Leo Holzum Jr.; and two sisters-in-law, Leona Brumleve and Helen Holzum Whealen.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at St. John Catholic Church in Leopold. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John, with the Rev. John Harth officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers please send donations in his memory to the National Parkinson's Association or the Lewy Body Dementia Association.
