Johnson, Ralph Delmar
DENISON - Ralph Johnson, age 83, of Denison passed away Tuesday,
April 19, 2005 at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman. Funeral services will be held
at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 21, at the American Funeral Services Chapel in Denison, Texas
with Ronald Cantrell officiating. Interment will be at Cedarlawn Memorial Park.
Mr. Johnson was born on April 23, 1921 to Sylvan Johnson and Corrine Whistler in
Silverlake, Mo. He married Leona Thompson on August 31, 1946 in Perryville, Mo. He retired
from the Air Force with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. During his active duty, he
served in World War II and was decorated for meritorious service at Pacific Air Force
Headquarters at Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii. After retirement he was actively involved
in his neighborhood and enjoyed spending time with friends and neighbors. He was a devoted
father and grandfather and will be dearly missed.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael
Johnson; brother, Herbert Johnson; and sister, Leona Van Doren.
He is survived by his wife, Leona of Denison; son, Patrick Johnson and wife, Lisa of
Denison; grandchildren, Mandy Barnett and husband, Bradley of Murphy, Texas and Mikael
Johnson of Denison, Texas.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday to American Funeral Services,
4312 W. Crawford St., Denison, Texas.
