Kieninger, Nelson A.

Nelson A. Kieninger, 89, of Jackson passed away Monday, June 28, 2010, at his home.

He was born April 18,1921, in Jackson, son of Arthur and Emma Kasten Kieninger. He and Elda Marie Loenneke were married Nov. 24, 1950. She passed away May 23, 2009.

Nelson was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Pocahontas, where he was a former member and held various offices. He was currently a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.

Nelson owned and operated a dairy farm many years. In 1983 he went to work for the former Landgraf Construction Co., then Vince Howard Farms, and later Pioneer Orchard. He was an active member of Jackson Bowling League 62 years, and was a former league president. He was a former active member in Mid-America Dairymen Association and held various offices.

Loving survivors include three sons, Melvin (Joanie) Kieninger of Butte, Mont., Orval Kieninger of Whitewater, Elmer (Debra) Kieninger of Jackson; a daughter, Diane (Gary) Laurentius of Jackson; two sisters, Norma Mahanna of Cape Girardeau, Jean Petzoldt of Pocahontas; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-stepgrandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a great-grandchild.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church Building Fund, American Cancer Society or Kidney Foundation.
