King, Gracie L. (nee Hale)

Gracie L. King, 62, of Jackson passed away Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

She was born July 20, 1949, at Cape Girardeau, daughter of Chandes and Lillie Bander Hale Sr. She and Nelson King Jr. were married Nov. 7, 1969, at Jackson. 

Gracie was raised at Patton and graduated from Meadow Heights High School in 1968. She worked for RubberMaid in Jackson for more than 32 years. She and her husband were avid exercise enthusiasts starting out years ago at the former Universal Physique fitness club in Cape Girardeau. They also enjoyed going to Trail of Tears State Park and listening to the birds sing, especially whippoorwills. Gracie was a member of the Calvary United Pentecostal Church in Jackson.

Survivors include her loving husband of more than 42 years, Nelson; a son, Travis (Jessica) King of Jackson; two daughters, Teresa (Jason) Doza and Tammy Long of Jackson; seven grandchildren, Autumn and Aaron King, Justin and Hailey Doza, Heather Wilke and R. J. and Wyatt Long; three brothers, Junior (Kathy) Hale, Carl Hale and Cecil (Jan) Hale all of Patton.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Charles H. Hale.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ronnie Brown and the Rev. Nathan Brown officiating.

Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Fruitland.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
