King, Wilson H.

JACKSON, Mo. -- Wilson H. King, 66, of Jackson passed away Monday, Dec. 24, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born April 21, 1935, at Neelys Landing, Mo., son of Woodrow W. and Irene M. Brown King.

Mr. King served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1980. He served in Germany, Alaska, and three tours in Vietnam. He received the Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam National Service Medal, RVN Camp Medal, RVN Gall Cross Unit Citation, and OS Service Bars Medal. He was a recruiter 10 years in Kansas City, retiring in 1980 and moving to Jackson.

He worked 10 years at Wal-Mart in Cape Girardeau. He was of the Baptist faith.

Loving survivors include his mother, Irene King of Jackson; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Ed and Deanna King of Medical Lake, Wash., John and Kim King, Jerry King, and Gary and Karen King, all of Jackson; six sisters and brothers-in-law, Shelby and John Gilmore of Jackson, Gladys and Martin Blumenthal of St. Louis, Mary and Dean Talley of Soldotna, Alaska, Marcy and Joe Scheffer, Nancy and Duayne Williams, and Becky and Jeff Kelley, all of Jackson; 23 nieces and nephews; and 25 great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Woodrow King, and brother, Robert L. King.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Dr. Brian Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery, with graveside military honors.
