King, Woodrow Wilson

JACKSON, Mo. -- Woodrow W. King, 88, of Jackson, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 25, 1913 at Leemon, Mo., son of Noah and Mary Pinkston King.

He marred Irene M. Brown Nov. 7, 1934. She survives.

King was a member of First Baptist Church at Jackson. He retired in 1970 from the Frisco Railroad after 40 years of employment.

Survivors included five sons and daughters-in-law, Wilson King of Jackson, Ed and Deanna King of Medical Lake, Wash., John and Kim King of Jackson, Jerry King of Jackson, Gary and Karen King of Jackson; 6 daughters and sons-in-law, Shelby and John Gilmore of Jackson, Gladys and Martin Blumenthal, of St. Louis, Mary and Dean Talley of Wasilla, Alaska, Marcyl and Joe Scheffer of Jackson, Nancy and Duayne Williams of Jackson and Becky and Jeff Kelley of Jackson; 6 brothers, Dennis King of Watertown Tenn., Leo King of Cape Girardeau, Lyman King of Jackson, J.D. King of Cape Girardeau, Tommy King of Cape Girardeau, Gene King of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Carol Slusher of Parker, Ariz.; 23 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, three brothers and three sisters.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, with the Rev. Brian Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Friends may call at the funeral chapel today between 4 and 8 p.m.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of memorials to the Diabetes Foundation.
