Kinsey, Duane Alfred

McCLURE, Ill. -- Duane Alfred Kinsey, 86, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014, while working in the yard on his farm in McClure.

One of three children, he was born Feb. 9, 1928, in Centralia, Illinois, to Ernest Gilmore and Connie Ruth Hoyt Kinsey.

Duane graduated from Centralia Township High School on May 28, 1946. He and Veda Marilyn Powell were married July 23, 1950, in Centralia. They built their home on the family farm in McClure and moved there April 21, 1954.

After moving to McClure, Duane farmed and worked during the winter months delivering gas for Missouri Propane, and during the summer months worked at Cape Ready Mix. In 1969 he joined Hart's Bread and served as their shop foreman and fleet mechanic, who could fix anything, until his retirement in May 1991. Duane was a delivery man for My Daddy's Cheesecake, and then started volunteering to deliver meals five days a week at Cape Senior Center, having just retired from that this spring.

Duane and Marilyn joined Grace United Methodist Church in 1954, and he served many roles over the years of their faithful membership.

He enjoyed attending the Methodist Men's breakfast, spending time grooming his yard, watching Cardinals baseball, and loved spending time with his family.

He is lovingly survived by his wife; six children, Pat Baldwin of McClure, Barbara Kinsey, Linda (Wynn) Bollinger and Wesley (Ann) Kinsey, all of Cape Girardeau, David (Fran) Kinsey of Thompsonville, Illinois, and Susan (K. Ross and Lexie McClanahan and Truman Kinsey of Cape Girardeau, and Annie Kinsey of Thompsonville; four great-grandchildren, Payce and Marlie Morgan, and Gunnar and Charlie Battaglia; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, David; twin brother, Dwight John; and a son-in-law, Doyle Gene Baldwin.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Grace United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau, as well as one hour before the funeral.
