Alfred Kirn, 77, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at Monticello House in Jackson, where he resided the last three years.

He was born March 17, 1937, in Cape Girardeau, to John and Bertha Scherer Kirn. He and Joyce Faye Newell were married Feb. 7, 1959. They had been married 50 years when she passed away Sept. 19, 2009.

Alfred worked many years as a truck driver for Perry Crating. He then drove a dump truck for Dannie Gilder Excavating, and retired from Oscar Welker Excavating. His favorite hobby was fishing. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson.

Loving survivors include two daughters, Kim (Gary) Ford of Oak Ridge and Gina Owen and fiance Rodney Katt of Frohna, Mo.; two grandsons, Cody (Amber) Ford, children Taylor and James of Tinker AFB, Okla., and Justin (Valerie) Owen of Jackson; two sisters, Martha Wilkinson of Jackson and Anna (Norman) Campbell of Oak Ridge; and a brother-in-law, Melvin Steinnerd of Jackson.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Johnny (Frances) Kirn, Rita Steinnerd and Shirley (Jack) Warren.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time Friday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Deacon Walt Biri officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the American Heart, Lung or Diabetes associations.
