Klaus, Willard Leon

Willard Leon Klaus, 83, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008, at Heartland Care Rehab Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Nov. 10, 1925, in Friedheim, son of Alvin F. and Lydia Dickman Klaus. He and Jane Slinkard were married Aug. 27, 1948, in Piggott, Ark.

Willard graduated from Oak Ridge High School in 1944 and served with the National Guard in Jackson. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.

He had worked at Cletus Hahs Shell Station, and then worked at Wayne Feed, both in Jackson. For 25 years he was a USDA meat inspector, retiring in 1987. Willard had been a patient at Heartland Care Rehab Center for nine years and nine months.

Loving survivors include his wife of 60 years; five daughters, Sandy (Gale) Crites of Jackson, Donna (Mike) Bloes of Dittmer, Mo., Carla (Bob) Blattel of Delta, Terri (Roger) Jones and Bonnie (Pat) Feeney, both of Jackson; a sister, Verna Lee Mouser of Jackson; 10 grandchildren; a stepgrandchild; and two great-stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Kenneth Klaus.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Henrichs officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson or Heartland Care Rehab Center Activities.
