Koehler, James Alfred
JACKSON - Alfred Koehler, 57 years old, of Jackson died early Sunday
moring in a Cape Girardeau hospital. He had been hospitalized for three weeks and in
failing health for four years.
Mr. Koehler was born Sept. 23, 1908 near Jackson, the son of Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Koehler.
He was married to Miss Lillian Hartle on Apr 27, 1935 in Jonesboro, Ill.
Mr. Koehler farmed for seven years following their marriage and was employed by the Albert
Sander Hardware Co. for a number of years, retiring in 1961 due to his health.
He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion Altenthal-Joerns Post
156.
Surviving in addition to his wife and father, are one son, Wayne Koehler, Jackson; a
daughter, Mrs. Joe (Peggy) Muse, St. Charles; four brothers, Lawrence Koehler, H.C.
Koehler Jr., and Charles Koehler, Jackson, and Paul Koehler, Cape Girardeau; five sisters,
Mrs. Dewey Smith, Mrs. George Vinyard, Mrs. John Horrell, Mrs. Tony Winkler and Mrs. Tony
Laurentius, all of Jackson; and six grandchildren.
Mr. Koehler was a member of McKendree Methodist Church where funeral services will be held
Wednesday afternoon at 2. The Rev. Edwin R. Saferite, assisted by the Rev. Loren Wolfe
will officiate.
Burial is to be in Russell Heights Cemetery with the American Legion holding graveside
rites.
The body is at the Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home and will be taken to the church at 1
Wednesday.
