Koetting, Rita B. (nee Schemel)
PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Rita B. Koetting, 80, of Perryville died Saturday, June 19, 2010, at Independence Care Center of Perry County.
She was born April 20, 1930, in Perryville, daughter of the late Martin F. and Theresia M. Braun Schemel. She and Bernard Koetting were married April 24, 1954, and they celebrated 56 years together. He survives in Perryville.
Other survivors include two sons, Donald M. (Winona) Koetting of Perryville and Richard E. Koetting of Altenburg, Mo.; a sister, Leonella M. "Neets" Coffey of Perryville; two grandchildren, Lindsey Koetting of Cape Girardeau and Landon Koetting of Perryville.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Dolores E. (Mrs. Hubert) Koetting.
Mrs. Koetting was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, the Perry County Memorial Hospital Volunteers, American Legion Auxiliary, Married Ladies Sodality and the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary. Her favorite pastimes were playing canasta and spending time with her grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and from 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville.
She will then be taken to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church for Mass at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Milton Ryan officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to AmHeart Hospice.
