Landgraf, Betty Lou (nee Wood)

Betty L. Landgraf, 85, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, where she was affectionately known as "Lady Bird."

She was born March 26, 1929, in Jackson to Sewell S. and Daisy J. Macke Wood. She and Harold E. Landgraf Sr. were married April 9, 1948, in Jackson. They had been married 62 years when Harold passed away June 23, 2010.

Betty was a graduate of Jackson High School, where she was active in band as a drummer.

After marriage, she became a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pocahontas where she was a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Jackson, the former Pocahontas Wonderworkers Homemakers Club, previously served as a 4-H Club leader, attended Cape Bible Study and was active in crafts with her brother and sister-in-law.

Betty was loved dearly by family, as a mother, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt and great aunt. She enjoyed life on the farm raising her three children, watching them play sports, helping her husband with the animals and gardening. Betty was able to do beautiful handwork and enjoyed making dolls and children's furniture for craft fairs. Cooking and baking bread and coffee cakes kept her family happy.

Loving survivors include three children, Harold E. "Pee Wee" Landgraf of Pocahontas, Jeffrey L. (Debbie) Landgraf of Gordonville and Lannette "Lanny" (Eric) Wilkinson of Lowndes, Missouri; three grandchildren, Clayton P. (Courtney) Landgraf, Jessica L. (Brian) Randolph and Ashley R. Wilkinson; five great-grandchildren, Mason, Kellan, and Piper Landgraf, Tristan Birk and Arica Wilkinson; twin brothers, Charles "Mike" (Estelee) Wood and Richard "Dick" (Brenda) Wood, all of Jackson; a brother-in-law, Robert Landgraf Sr. of Pocahontas; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and a dear friend, Sandy Heitman of Cape Girardeau.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Edmond Eugene Landgraf; and a sister-in-law, June Landgraf.

The family extends special thanks to Betty's Caregivers at The Arbors and the Lutheran Home.
