Lappe, Irma Anna (nee Seyer)

Irma A. Lappe, 89, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, May 30, 2007, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born Oct. 3, 1917, in Kelso, Mo., daughter of Joseph J. and Pauline A. Dohogne Seyer. She and Sylvester E. Lappe were married May 29, 1940, at St. Mary's Cathedral. He died Nov. 24, 1986.

Mrs. Lappe was a licensed practical nurse at Saint Francis Hospital. She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, St. Anne Sodality, St. Mary's Quilting Ladies, Friends of Saint Francis, and VFW Post 3838 Auxiliary.

Survivors include a son, Tom (Sharon) Lappe of Biehle, Mo.; two daughters, Mary Emmenderfer (Mike) Richey of Cape Girardeau, Judy (Mike) Burger of Scott City; four brothers, Oscar (Dorothy) Seyer of Jackson, the Rev. James Seyer, Vincent (Louise) Seyer and Joseph "Joe" (Frieda) Seyer of Cape Girardeau; 11 grandchildren, Tammy (Richard) Ostendorf of Cape Girardeau, Tom (Pam) Lappe Jr. of Oak Ridge, Tina (Mike) Schaefer of Gordonville, Tim (Michelle) Lappe of Shawneetown, Lisa (Jeff) Kight, Jeff (Kathy) Emmenderfer, Jason (Amy) Emmenderfer, Lynn (Brian) Thompson of Cape Girardeau Bryan (Janice) Burger, Travis (Kim) Burger and Dale (Christa) Burger of Scott City; and 20 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Gary Emmenderfer; three sisters, Sister Adelma Seyer, SSND, Sister Clovis Seyer, SSND, Delphine Longinette; four brothers, Brother Clarence Seyer, C.M., Mark Seyer, the Rev. Francis Seyer and Thomas Seyer.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home. Parish prayers will be at 7.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Cathedral, with the Revs. James Seyer and Tom Kiefer concelebrating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
