Laramore, Geraldine Lunsford (nee King)

Geraldine Laramore, 83, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

A son, Jerry Lunsford, who suffered an aneurysm in the early 1970s, passed away in the early afternoon that day at Sells Nursing Home in Matthews, Missouri.

She was born June 28, 1931, at Neelys Landing to Harrison and Tavie Wills King. She and Ernest M. Lunsford were married in August 1948. They had been married 18 years when he passed away in August 1966. She and Edward "Dick" Laramore were married April 22, 1972. They had been married 20 years when he passed away Dec. 29, 1992.

Geraldine attended grade school at Neelys Landing. Always of the Baptist belief, she attended the former Baptist Church at Neelys Landing and First Baptist Church in Jackson.

She was a devoted, loving mother to her eight children, and in the early 1970s when her son Jerry experienced the aneurysm, she devoted herself to his full-time care.

Geraldine worked at the former shoe factory in Cape Girardeau and the former Voorhes Greenhouse in Jackson.

Loving survivors include seven children, Nelson (the late Gracie) King, Jerry Lunsford (who died later the same day as Geraldine), Brenda (the late Gary) Sides, Kathryn "Sue" (Mike) Stinson, Doris "June" Collier, Ricky (Judy) Lunsford and Debra (the late Wes) Kinder, all of Jackson; four stepchildren, David E. (Annette) Laramore and Michael T. Laramore, both of Red Bud, Illinois, Dixie (Bernie) Clayton of O'Fallon, Missouri, and Joyce Ann (Jim) Hundley of Waterloo, Illinois; two sisters, Violet (the late Arnold) Sides of Blue Mound, Illinois, and Doris (Leonard) Landis of Anna, Illinois; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and several stepgrandchildren.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Toney Lunsford, in 1994; a grandson, Brian Sides, in 2002; three siblings, Bob (Geneva) King, Mae (Norman) Lunsford and Peggy (Eddie) Craft; and two young siblings.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Vernon officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Fruitland.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Pleasant Hill Cemetery Association.
