Lawrence, Gladys Mae (nee Bollinger)

Gladys Mae Lawrence, 93, of Jackson passed away Thursday, May 21, 2015, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born July 4, 1921, in Monticello, Missouri, daughter of Henry J. and Ethel Ellis Bollinger. She and David Max Lawrence were married Dec. 25, 1958. He passed away June 1, 2005.

Gladys taught school more than 30 years. She was a member of Sedgewickville United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She served as a Methodist missionary in Alaska, and the inner cities of Chicago and Memphis, Tennessee. She also was a member of the Homemakers Club and Senior Citizens (HOPS).

Survivors include a son, Dunstan Lawrence of Sedgewickville; a daughter, Shannon Lawrence of Sedgewickville; two brothers, Thomas Bollinger of Marquand, Missouri, and Mark Bollinger of Scopus, Missouri; a sister, Alice Walton of Normal, Illinois; and two grandsons, Aaron and Isaac Elk of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Truman, Clyde, Lloyd, Franklin and Ralph Bollinger; and a sister, Mary Crites.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Liley Funeral Home in Patton.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
