Lawter, Iva Dee (nee Clardy)

HUMBLE, Texas -- Iva Dee Lawter, 73, of Humble, formerly of Jackson, passed away Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at her daughter's home in Humble.

She was born Sept. 2, 1940, at Crump, daughter of William Paul and Bonnie Dee Brown Clardy. She and Daniel Lawter were married April 26, 1984.

Iva Dee was a wonderful wife, mom and mema. She enjoyed being with her family, all of whom she loved very much. She liked to read, paint, draw, do just about any type of art or craft, and tend to the plants trees, and shrubs in her yard. In her younger years, she was a licensed beautician and owned and operated a beauty shop in Fruitland. After she moved to Texas, she was a secretary, retiring from Tip Top Cleaners in Houston. She attended the Servant's Chapel Church in Houston.

Loving survivors include three children, Christina Lee Leimer of San Diego, Rocky (Angela Myers) Leimer Sr. of Jackson and Bobbi (Clarence) Lenear of Humble; her mother, Bonnie Clardy of Jackson; two brothers, Paul Dean Clardy of Jackson and Mike (Lynette) Clardy of Whitewater; four grandchildren, Jacob, Jessi, Rocky Jr. and Randee; and six- great-grandchildren, Alexis, Landon, Dalton, Grace, Jaydon and Leila.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until service time Friday at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mike Huffman officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the American Diabetes Association.
