Layton, Rosemary (nee Gibbar)

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Rosemary Layton, 82, of Perryville died Sunday, June 30, 2002, at Perry County Memorial Hospital.

She was born April 4, 1920, in Perry County, daughter of Louis and Mary McLain Gibbar. She and William L. Layton were married Sept. 17, 1942. He died April 25, 1992.

Layton was an assembler at International Shoe Co. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church at Silver Lake, Mo., and American Legion Auxiliary Post 133 in Perryville.

Survivors include two daughters, Rosalie Zoellner of St. Louis, Carole Lukefahr of Perryville; a son, Donald Layton of Perryville; two sisters, Lucille Jannin and Pearl Doll of Perryville; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, three sisters, and a brother.

Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home from 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, and Thursday from 6:30 to 9:15 a.m. The wake will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Rose of Lima Church. The Rev. Kevin P. Fausz will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

A funeral will be held Thursday, July 4th, 2002 for 82-year-old Rosemary Layton of Perryville who died Sunday, June 30th at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Perryville.

She was born April 4th, 1920 in Perry County, the daughter of Louis and Mary (McLain) Gibbar who preceded her in death.

She married William L. Layton on September 17th, 1942. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by two daughters and sons in law, Rosalie and Ron Zoellner of St. Louis and Carole and Paul Lukefahr of Perryville and one son and daughter in law, Donald Layton and Priscilla Fonceca of Perryville.

She is also survived by two sisters, Lucille Jannin and Pearl Doll, both of Perryville.

Ten grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren also survive.

She was also preceded in death by one son, Billy Joe Layton; three sisters, Edna Richardet, Hazel Whistler and Mary Etheline Jannin and one brother, Joseph Albert Gibbar.

She was employed at the International Shoe Company.

She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Silver Lake and the American Legion Post No. 133 Auxiliary in Perryville.

Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Wednesday, July 3rd and 6:30-9:15 a.m. Thursday, July 4th at the Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville. Catholic wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

A funeral mass for 82-year-old Rosemary Layton of Perryville will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 4th at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Silver Lake. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The Rev. Kevin Fausz, C.M. will officiate.

Memorials may be made to Masses or to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery in Silver Lake.
